Have you ever been bullied? Maybe there was someone who didn't like you very much and they did everything in their power to make you upset, and sometime, even scared.  Well, we shouldn't be scared, especially if we know God is with us all the time. Today, we're going to learn about a few young boys who were bullied and bullied until they were thrown in a dungeon with lions. In fact, they were thrown in a fiery dungeon and couldn't get out. They were stuck in that dungeon just like we've been stuck at home for the past several weeks! Unlike them, we were treated kindly by our parents. For Daniel and his friends, they were treated terribly all because they would bow down to other gods, other than the one true God.

Story Time!

Let's hear how God save Daniel and his friends! When Daniel was in a terrible and frightening bind, he prayed, and God delivered him and his frieds! What a mighty God we serve! He is able to deliver!

Have you and your brothers and sisters been arguing a lot lately? Tell the truth! I know being cooped up at home can be pretty difficult right now, during our stay-at-home order, and you might just get upset about a lot of things, but you don't have to be! You can live like the righteous!
Did you hear about Joseph and his brothers in the Bible? Joseph's brothers did not like Joseph too much, and they did not like having him around. I know that we should be joyful with each other. We should not fight and quarrel. God does not like that at all! When we argue and fight all the time, we can't worship God like we need to and like God wants us to. Put a smile on your face, love your brothers and sisters (and mom and dad) so that God will love what you are doing.

Joseph and Forgiveness

Picture
Even though Joseph's brothers were mean to him, he learned to forgive them. He understood that If did what was right, God would always take care of him! We should always remember that Jesus will take care of us when we follow Him and His Word.

So What's So Fishy?

Did you know the Bible talks about fish an awful lot? Jesus told His disciples that they would be fishers of men. Also, Jesus took a little boy's fish that he planned to eat to miraculously turn one piece of fish to feed many people. Some of Jesus' disciples were even fishermen, and Jesus many times sat down and ate fish with them. Yeah!

That's right! Jesus ate fish with many people. But did you know that fish also ate people in the Bible. Well....sort of. That's what we're going to talk about today. Jonah...the prophet that was swallowed by a great fish. Let's listen to the story....

Bible Story Time! Jonah and the Big Fish!

Picture
Today's Bible story is about Jonah. Jonah was a prophet of the Lord. As a prophet, he was supposed to do whatever God asked him to do. As a prophet, he had to preach the commandments of God to the Hebrews and he sometimes had to tell them what would happen to them in the future. In the Book of Jonah in the Bible, God commanded Jonah to go preach to all the wicked people who lived in Nineveh, but Jonah did not want to do what God commanded him. Because Jonah disobeyed God, God prepared a great fish for him, and that great fish swallowed Jonah! Can you believe it!

Click the audio play button below to here the story of Jonah. If you can tell me what Jonah did inside the belly of fish, we'll give you 5 points towards our end-of-the-quarantine drawing! I'll even give you hint: This is something everyone should do if they are in trouble and need help!

Enter your answer, with your first and last name and email address in the form below. We'll keep a tally of your points here at Greater Life Apostolic Church.

You're Not the Only One Who Can't Go Anywhere! Animals Get Stuck, Too!

Did you know that some animals hibernate? Hibernating is a period of time when animals slow way down and rest for a long, long time. The remain in one place just like we are doing today in Colorado. We can't go anywhere, but unlike hibernating animals, we don't want to go to bed!

When hibernating animals go to sleep, their heart beats much, much slower and they wait for better times to come out and enjoy the weather. They hibernate a lot of times because there's no more food for them. So, they find a small, little hole or place where they don't move for, sometimes, months! It is truly amazing! God takes care of them while they are sleeping.
Picture
We know that bears hibernate, but did you know that the lemur, bees, snakes, poorwill birds, and bats are a few animals  that also hibernate?

We get grumpy when we are not allowed to leave the house and have to stay inside! Did you know that bears are really, really grumpy when they are hibernating in the holes, too! We shouldn't be grumpy, even though that old devil wants us to be grumpy!

The devil wants everybody grumpy
The devil wants everybody sad
The devil wants everybody grumpy, grumpy, grumpy
And he never wants anybody glad
But Jesus wants everybody happy
Jesus wants everybody glad
Jesus wants everybody happy, happy, happy
And He doesn’t want anybody sad!

We shouldn't be grumpy though, because God is always with us and taking care of us! He will give us just what we need everyday!
Take a look at the picture, and see if you can figure out which of the show animals hibernate. You will be surprised to find out who is happily sleeping this winter!

Story Corner: "The Adventures of Zoe: The Spirit Filled Bear"

Bible Lesson:
Stuck on the Ark...for 40 Days!

Picture
Okay, kids! It's true! Noah was stuck in a house just like you! His house wasn't one with four walls, though. It had different-shaped walls, three floors, and it floated on the water! How would you like to have your house floating on the water?! That would be soooo interesting!

In any case, Noah had no other choice but to follow God's order just like we have to follow our Governor's order. God's orders, though, are always higher than man's orders.

Noah spent a long time building a humongous ark made from gopher wood and God called all the animals, male and female, into the ark after it was all built.

Listen to today's Bible story. What interests you most about this story? See if you can retell the story to your mom, dad, or sibling!

Let's Pray!

Ask your parents or big brother or sister to pray the prayer below with  you!

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for this day and thank you for always watching over me and protecting me.  Being stuck doesn't have to be bad, but we can wait on you just like Noah. We know you will always carry us through every situation. You are a good God, and I hope I can learn more about you! Amen!

Let's Sing!

Here's a cool song to learn! Do you think Noah sung a song like this when he was stuck on the ark? Play it a couple of times and sing along if you can!
After you've listened to the song, ask your mom, dad, big sister, or big brother to help you type in the box below 2 to 4 thoughts about the song and how you think it applies to Noah. If you do, your teacher will give you 5 points.

Don't forget to enter your name and your mom or dad's email address!

Let's Memorize!
